Each assistance dog is individually selected and trained to suit the needs, personality and lifestyle of each handler.

FBI Assistance Dogs can perform the following tasks:

  • Help people live independent lives
  • Provide companionship
  • Pull a wheelchair
  • Retrieve dropped items
  • Get help or retrieve the phone in emergencies
  • Pay cashier
  • Pull alarm or emergency cord
  • Push medical alert button/alarm
  • Turn light switches on & off
  • Open & close doors (including refrigerator)
  • Get medications
  • Perform medical alert (i.e. seizure) response tasks
  • Push elevator buttons
  • Push public access push plates
  • Help handler to brace
  • Help handler to get in & out of bed, chairs, etc.
  • Help a fallen handler
  • Perform other tasks as needed
