Hearing Dogs
"GIDGET" is a hearing dog trained to alert to sounds.
- Help people live independent lives
- Provide companionship
- Alert to crying babies
- Alert to smoke alarms, doorbells and other sounds
Certified Hearing Dogs
enjoy the same public access rights of service dogs.
Unlike service dogs, who usually are larger dogs, Hearing Dogs can be of any size.
Hearing
dogs are the ears for the hearing impaired.
Imagine that you could not hear everyday sounds: your baby crying, a
visitor at your door, or that morning alarm clock going off. A
hearing dog will alert his owner to such sounds, making life not
only easier but safer. Hearing Dogs are also trained to warn their
owners when the fire or smoke alarm goes off. These remarkable
canines can even tell their owners when an intruder is outside.
For Better
Independence finds future hearing dogs in many places. Caring
breeders donate dogs to our program. We also rescue dogs from
shelters. The common traits that all hearing dogs share are
a strong work ethic and a stable temperament.
"COLT" is a mixed breed trained to alert to sounds, wouldn't you trust those ears? :)
